h4. How do I get an account to LucidWorks Cloud?

All you need to do is fill out a form to [request access|http://www.lucidimagination.com/forms/sign-lucidworks-cloud]. Someone from Lucid Imagination will contact you for more information, to get a sense for your use case and needs, and then start a request for an instance of LucidWorks Cloud to be provisioned for you.

h4. What happens after I sign up?

An account will be created for you, which will give you access to your LucidWorks Cloud instance, the support forums and documentation. You'll be notified by email when this has occured and then you can log in and start using LucidWorks Cloud.

The log in process has two steps. First, access LucidWorks Cloud at [http://lucidworks.io] and enter the account information that you were sent in the email. You'll next see the My Search Server page with a URL to access the Admin Console of your provisioned instance. When you click on that, you will be taken to another login screen to access your provisioned instance (your search server). The default username and password is also provided in the welcome email. You should change the default search server password as soon as possible, which can be done via the Users screen (a link is at the upper right on all screens).

h4. What if I forget my password?

Click on the [Forgot Your Password|https://www.lucidworks.io/users/password/new] link, enter the email address for your account, and instructions will be sent to reset your password. If you don't receive the mail in a few moments, check the spam filters in your email client to be sure it wasn't mistakenly marked as spam or junk mail.

h4. How do I get support?

Customers without a Support Subscription can get questions answered via our [community forums|http://http://www.lucidimagination.com/forum/cloud/]. Customers with a Support Subscription have access to a case management system but can also access the forums at their preference.  

Operations issues with your instance, such as service interruptions or similar problems that inhibit the functionality of your instance, will be responded to within 2 hours.  Customers with a Support Subscription using the case management system can expect responses within their contractual Service Level Agreement (SLA).  Questions posted to our forums will be responded to within 48 hours.

LucidWorks Cloud is a hosted search service based on Solr and Lucene targeted to application developers who need a cost-effective platform to build on.  Several built-in ReST APIs allow embedding administration, monitoring, and search functionality into new or existing applications.  With no upfront hardware costs, it's possible to build a useable search index in a few hours using out-of-the-box connectors and easy-to-use user interfaces powered by Solr's advanced search capabilities.

h4. What are the differences between LucidWorks Cloud and LucidWorks Enterprise?

LucidWorks Enterprise and LucidWorks Cloud are both built on the LucidWorks Platform. Lucidworks Enterprise is the stand-alone version: you install and maintain the application on your own servers. LucidWorks Cloud is hosted by Lucid Imagination in Amazon's cloud environment, and is for the most part functionally the same as LucidWorks Enterprise. We have added to it many features for provisioning, back-end management and monitoring of multiple customer environments which are mostly invisible to our customer administrators and users.

Because some of the features of LucidWorks Enterprise require access to the server, or require uploading files to the server, we have disabled some features for LucidWorks Cloud customers. These include:

* Uploading a JDBC driver for crawling JDBC databases
* Indexing a JDBC data source
* Indexing a file of documents in SolrXML format
* Indexing a local filesystem (S3, S3n, SMB, or HDFS filesystems are allowed)
* LDAP integration
* Creation and management of collection templates
* Modification of paths for storing logs, installation directories, and Click Scoring data
* Distributed search configuration, index replication, and SolrCloud functionality

The LucidWorks documentation contains a badge at the top of some pages to indicate if a feature is not available for LucidWorks Cloud. In general, any feature that requires manual interaction with configuration files on the server is not available. If this is functionality you need, however, contact us and we'll see what we can do to help you (which may include making the required changes for you in some cases).
